FUNKO SHORTS: SPIDER-MAN

Studio: Funko Animation Studio

Project Year: 2018

I had the chance to work on this Funko short. Spider-man has alwasy been my hero since I was a child, and never had I thought that I could actually take part in the making of something related to Spidy. Together with the modelling team, I developed the set dressing and a few of the buildings in the background. It was fun to look for references and to model the iconic Venetian architecture, with its characteristic balconies, the window frames and the unique wooden terraces. But the task couldn’t come without any challenge. Venice is a beautiful city, which I had the pleasure to visit in person a few times in the past, and therefore I was keen to replicate the exact look and the vibes of the venetian streets along the canal, to give to the 3D version a little more authenticity. For instance, although they are quite small and they don’t get much screen time, the names on the directional wall signs come from real streets in Venice, as well as the tiny bar next to the ice-cream vendor, which was inspired by a local one.
